Biosketch
ORABUEZE, IFEOMA CELESTINA, completed her B.Pharm. undergraduate degree at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and worked as production Pharmacist for some years before going for her PhD. in Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lagos. Her Ph.D. (2016) research involved, isolation and characterization of antimalarial compounds from Nigerian medicinal plants under the direction of Professor Marston, Andrew (late), Department of organic chemistry, natural product unit, University of Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa; and her Nigerian supervisors. Currently, she is a faculty member at Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lagos.
Her research focuses on drug discovery from medicinal plants, phytochemistry, nutritional Pharmacognosy, toxicology studies of natural products, evaluation of Pharmacological activities of medicinal plants, and herbal formulation. She is skilled in analytical quality control of herbal products, and bioactivity guided isolation of pure compounds from medicinal plants.
She has been awarded a good number of research grants, conference traveling and workshop grants by reputable organizations
