Personal Statement

“I am a middle career scientific researcher and new drug product development enthusiast, with a passion for advancing sustainable solutions in the effective treatment of communicable and non-communicable diseases, including cancer, infection and inflammation through drug delivery technologies, using innovative, biodegradable and biocompatible materials. My work focuses on developing smart, biodegradable nanomedicines, in situ gelling and film formulations using FDA-approved pharmaceutical ingredients. In addition, my research combines Polymer Chemistry with Pharmaceutics, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, and Molecular Biology to develop innovative and patient-centric medicines. With a strong commitment to improving the therapeutic outcomes of cancer patients and those with microbial infections and inflammatory conditions, I constantly strive to ensure that new drug products that could be translated from the research laboratory to the clinics are developed. Also, I share my research findings during scientific conferences and publish my research outcomes in quality chemistry and pharmaceutical journals. In addition, I support the future generation of pharmacists and drug formulation scientists to acquire research and analytical skills that will help them generate breakthrough medicines. My ultimate goal is to translate research into scalable drug products and training models that address Africa’s health challenges through collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches.”
