Personal Statement

Dr. Florence Nkemehule is a Pharmacognosist with a focus on standardization of herbal medicines, toxicology, computational biology and ethnopharmacology towards anti-diabetic, anti-microbial, and anti-cancer research. She obtained her doctoral training at University of Copenhagen, Denmark in Professor Anna Jager’s laboratory, of the Natural Products Research Group, headed by Professor Dan Staerk. In addition to being a phytomedicine expert, Dr. Nkemehule is passionate about mentoring, science communication and capacity building. She has received fully funded trainings in this regard, at Mombasa Kenya by Award Fellowship Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Grant; at Trieste Italy, by SISSA Masterclass TWAS sponsorship and at CMHS University of Rwanda, for African Community for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis inauguration by AuthorAID UK seed grant, respectively. She’s a reviewer in some reputable scientific journals and a member of various prestigious scientific societies and academies.
